Tuesday Trivia!

LAST WEEKS QUESTION: My dad had something he always told us before we went anywhere growing up, and actually he still says it to us. (And no, it is not the usual remember who you are!) What was the phrase?

ANSWER: Don't spit on the floor! Anywhere I went and even still when I tell him I am going somewhere he says, "Remember, don't spit on the floor!" Random and weird, I know, but I think his intentions were to have me be polite! Thanks dad! That is what I got from you saying that, whether you meant it or not!

WRONG, YET CREATIVE: Don't hit a moose, Be g..g...g...great, don't get arrested, pick up milk, return with honor. These are others my sister said that he did say also: Giddy-up, wear your seat belt, it's been a slice of heaven and you be good!

NEW QUESTION: What is Derick's BIGGEST, HUGEST, #1 pet peeve?

Tuesday Trivia!

LAST WEEKS QUESTION: I was in the good old Anchorage Daily News in highschool. Ok, they may not have mentioned my name at all, but there was a picture! What was it for?

ANSWER: This is a picture of track practice! We had some practices leading up to this picture where we all had shovels and had to clear the track! You can see the snow on the side that is still there. This was an article in late April. Before we were able to clear the track, we would have to do our running through the halls of the school. It was pretty hard going up and down all the stairs and dodging opening doors and people! Thanks Lizanne for giving this to me so long ago!

WRONG, YET CREATIVE: Native games skills, streaking through graduation, jumping into the slush at Alyeska, Polar Bear club, football game, behind a serial sock thief in line, and second chair oboe player.

NEW QUESTION: My dad had something he always told us before we went anywhere growing up, and actually he still says it to us. (And no, it is not the usual remember who you are!) What was the phrase?

Good Things Utah--Here we come!!!

My good friend Carly, my sister Amy and I went up to Good Things Utah this morning! We have been wanting to and Amy suggested going for my birthday, which is next week :), but today was the only day that would work for both of us. It was so much fun! Kristy, we really missed you and we WILL go for your birthday so they can zoom way in on you like they did on me!

Waiting outside for them to let us in the studio.

I ran into Ellen in the lobby, she is so funny.

Our view of the set.

Thank you to the lady behind us for taking our picture!

We were pretending to cook after the show. I like that kitchen! The little black square thing we are holding was one of the little pillows you sit on in the audience because it isn't very comfortable sitting on bleachers for a long time without getting up!

Here are the ladies! They were so fun to watch during commercial breaks and afterwards! They go from straight faces, to all smiles on air, then back! They really are fun! We had a great time, finishing off the morning with lunch at Zupas and a quick, yummy trip to See's! Thank you Dave, Ryan and Derick for staying with the kids!

Cheap Sprinkler Fun!

The other day we were testing out the sprinklers (because we had some random dead spots) and of course we couldn't keep Andrew dry. If I ask him during the day if he wants me to fill up the pool or turn the sprinklers on, he always says no. BUT WHEN DAD IS HOME, sure, he wants to! That is going to be a whole different post someday, getting ideas to help this child not be so bored during the day! Ok, back sprinklers-here are some pictures.

Yes yes, I know Andrew's underwear is HUGE! Ok, I bought the wrong size, but he can pull them up a lot easier than the ones that fit right...

I painted, or attempted to paint Ashley's toenails again. They turned out cute and sparkly, along with a lot of other things too (her toes themselves, fingers, my hands, pants, etc.) And that is Derick trying to catch Andrew to bring him in. Our poor neighbors. I am sorry this boy likes to take his clothes off all the time in the backyard!

Look at Andrew's face. I am noticing a common expression. Can't quite pinpoint what it is, but it looks pretty gross to me.

Tuesday Trivia!

LAST WEEKS QUESTION: How did Derick and I meet?

ANSWER: He was my property manager! The first time I saw him, he came over to light the pilot light. The way he was dressed I thought, who is this guy?! He had on a NOFX hat, a Blind shirt, baggy jeans and sandals I later found out he got on his mission. We started hanging out eventually and that was that!

WRONG, YET CREATIVE: Dating my roommate (that one really made me laugh-Derick grew up in the same ward as the other 3 girls-Diana, is there something you need to tell me?!), same FHE group, at Survivor auditions in LA (ya, didn't everyone see us last season?), at Denny's on my birthday, Derick being the clown at my 16th birthday party!

I don't remember it being this hard to learn to wink!

A couple weeks ago we were at IHOP eating dinner. (It was probably a Tuesday night because kids eat free that night) We were trying to teach Andrew how to wink. These movies are HILARIOUS! Watch his face and mouth.

Tuesday Trivia!

LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Becky used to collect something and hang them from her ceiling when she lived at home. What was it?

ANSWER: Bags! That is right, bags. You have to understand that growing up in Alaska, we didn't have a Gap or Old Navy or anything like that until I was in highschool! So, I used to collect shopping bags from all kinds of stores and places. Disneyland, See's (I had some chocolate stashed in that one), Abercrombie, and all these places around the world that people would bring back for me to hang up! It made for some interesting wall art!

WRONG, YET CREATIVE: Stuffed spider monkeys, air-fresheners, bells, rosary beads, wind chimes, N'SYNC posters, jump ropes and medals, stars, moose nuggets, and slinky's! I love that! Slinky's would be pretty cool I must say. I guess I wasn't that cool with the bags....!

NEW QUESTION: How did Derick and I meet? (Lets see how many people payed attention when we spoke in church!!)

4th of July proposal...

Time to take a trip down memory lane! When Derick and I were dating, he decided he wanted to take a trip up to Alaska to meet my family and see where I was from! I was extremely excited, especially since he would be able to go to Seward for the 4th of July with us! If you aren't an Alaskan, then you probably don't know what or where Seward is. It is a little town of about 2,500 people. Glaciers, cruise ships, fishing charters, you name it! Well, on the 4th of July this little town turns into MADNESS! The population grows to close to 40,000 on the 4th! We have been going here since I was little.

Ok, back to my proposal story. We all go to Seward and camp on the 3rd and wake up for the festivities. The Mount Marathon is the main event. My little brother and I did the juniors race 3 times and it was HARD! Click HERE to see pictures of the mountain you run up! SO, there are a ton of people in the town, festivities going on and racers constantly crossing the finish line. As they come close to finishing, the announcers say their name and where they are from. These announcers also say what is going on when for the day. You can hear them pretty much ANYWHERE in the town!

So we are watching people finish the race and we hear over the speakers, "Derick P., we have something of yours at the announcers table, please come claim it." We look at each other wondering what in the world they are talking about and start running up there. Derick says, "Maybe it is my wallet." No, his wallet was in his pocket. I had no clue what was happening and finally we reach the table. When we get there, they give Derick a hand to pull him up on the table and hand him the microphone. WHAT?! What is going on?! Then he pulls me up there with him. Derick starts working the crowd, asking how everyone is doing today! He finally says, "I brought this young lady up here today to ask her to marry me!" My mouth drops open. He gets down on one knee, pulls out the ring and asks me to marry him! Don't forget this is in front of the whole town! People were crying, laughing, screaming, the whole works! I giggled and said yes, kind of. (Afterwards people told me I just sounded like I was giggling and wondered what I answered him.) We get down, take some pictures and start walking around again. People were stopping us right and left congratulating us! It was so much fun and perfect! Great job Derick and thanks to Amy for helping him set that up!!

Tuesday Trivia!

**I am absolutely LOVING all this participation! You guys are SO creative!**

LAST WEEKS QUESTION: Derick competed in a sport in highschool. He placed in a national competition in Vail, CO. What was the sport and what did he place?

ANSWER: Trials and 16th out of about 100 people. Click HERE to see what it is! A lot of people don't know what it is, but it's pretty amazing! I had no idea what it was, I kept thinking bmx or something. This picture is of him just playing around jumping on picnic tables. At our condo he used to hop all the way up the flight of stairs outside and then ride them down. Yes, he was a neighborhood favorite.

WRONG, YET CREATIVE: Bobsledding, soccer, diving, pole vaulting (that would be funny), freestyle biking, kayaking, squirrel tossing (hilarious), handball, snowboarding, tennis and golf.

NEW QUESTION: Becky used to collect something and hang them from her ceiling of her room when she lived at home. What was it??
