Hanging out in Alaska!

Besides the beautiful wedding, this was one of my favorite moments in Alaska! One night we were all sitting around talking when we thought, hey, this is all of us! All siblings sitting around chatting! It was crazy! We haven't all been together in such a long time! Of course we had to get a picture to document it! We kept running through the names, Paul, Amy, John, Becky, Andy, Emily, yep, everyone!

We attempted family pictures...I say attempt because this may be the best shot. Actually, I don't have the real pictures so I don't know how they turned out, but this is the best of the ones we took on our own camera's!

Andy....don't know what that face is...at least Leisl looks cute!

A few pictures of the moose we saw. The first one was while driving, the other is in the backyard!

When we were saying our goodbyes to John and Trachelle, Zander and Asher were hanging on to Derick's legs! As soon as Asher saw the camera, he took off.

We can't forget the Newman family tradition of Donut Day! Andrew was in heaven with the cereal donut at Dino's, and John really loved the peanut butter and jelly one I guess!

(More pictures of the camping trip to come!)

Most beautiful place on Earth....WHITTIER!

There is something about this little town! Maybe that you have the most beautiful drive getting there, passing Portage Glacier plus a million other glaciers. Or driving through the tunnel on the railroad tracks (ok not my favorite, pretty claustrophobic, but an adventure). Or the best fish and chips and prettiest view!
Derick stuck between the 2 kids for the ride.
Mmmm yummy halibut! Here we are waiting for our food. The kids were loving watching the boats in the harbor and the cruise ship.

Pretty glaciers tucked away in the mountains.

Oh yes, and you can't forget to walk Comet! A little weird to see that coming down the street.

(Scroll down passed the Homestead post, I put up some reception pictures!)

Enjoying the view at Flat Top

We waited and waited for a day with no haze from the fires, so when we got one, we headed up to Flat Top! The kids had fun running around on the trails. We didn't hike the mountain...I don't have the patience to try that with the kids! Ashley was insistent on hiking herself, until the trail got steep!

Dave and Derick hiked it one night, they left at 10pm and got up there pretty quick. They took the old route that is too dangerous anymore, but needed the thrill I guess. On their way back down there was a black bear and 2 cubs on the trail!

Johnson's Homestead

We had to make the annual run to the Johnson's homestead out in Willow. Rosalind had lunch all ready for us and Steve had all the toys ready for the kids! It is so peaceful out there.
At the Johnson's house that we grew up playing at they had a buoy swing that we loved to play on. Now it is time to bring the kids and let them have the fun with it (well a new one because the old one was disintegrated)

Steve got out his go carts and 4-wheelers too. They were also a hit....but poor Tiernan didn't get to go. He was so sad!

Derick took Andrew out on a paddle boat (very first picture in this post) then we went out as a family in the row boat. Ashley kept trying to climb out of the boat it get into the water!

Reception time at the Petroleum Club

We had so much fun at the reception! It was so great to see old faces! I heard someone talking around the corner at one point and started having childhood flashbacks of playing with my neighbors! It is amazing how many people love Andy & Leisl! And yes, when they drove away in the truck....I cried. My little brother is all grown up!!

Leisl & Andy....the BIG DAY!

My cute little brother married the cutest girl! I am so excited, happy, thrilled, relieved to have Leisl in the family and wouldn't have it any other way! They were married in the Anchorage Alaska LDS Temple. The ceremony was so nice, I cried, yet again. My little Andy is all grown up!
